Delicious takeaway Christmas dinner! We will do that more often!
The takeaway menu was also a feast!
Great food and wines. Uncomplicated, friendly and flexible staff. The location is excellent, by some of Holland's most beautiful dune areas. Splendid for nature walks. Rooms are good, breakfast functional, but a downer if you ate at the restaurant the night before. Wonderful, not cheap.
Definitely the best restaurant in the Netherlands. Surprising, challenging and very nice service.
Hotel Merlet is located in a beautiful setting: wooded area near the dunes. I was pleased to see the solar panels on the roof, Merlet is apparently (also) environmentally conscious. Then the hotel room. Spacious and clearly renovated. The finish could have been better (ceiling plaster? New / different carpet?). Bathroom is very nice. And nice that the toilet is separate from the bathroom. We had a five course gastronomic package at the Michelin restaurant. New interior is refreshing and also attracts young audiences. Nice detail is the ottoman for the ladies' bag. We have seen this before in InterScaldes. A striking number of young couples dined last night. We started with three appetizers. Right away. We found the fish and seafood courses the best of the evening. Jonathan is certainly able to put beautiful dishes on the table and prepare delicious sauces. Staff is fast and pleasant with guests.
What we have enjoyed at Merlet, top food and very sweet staff, compliments!
Friendly staff. Well organized. Beautiful rooms and succulent food. It costs something but it is well worth it Nelly and Wim van Leeuwen
Our experience of 2 nights at Merlet can be divided into 3 reviews: - Hotel: we had to extract the information when entering: which evening which restaurant, use of the swimming pool & wellness, times for breakfast, etc. Absolutely not the feeling of being 'pampered', which should be at this price ... - Brasserie: good menu, nice staff, good value for money. - Restaurant: Sublime !!! Definitely worth the star with an added compliment to the sommelier!
delicious little menu with super quality food! very good service. Can explain the menu and tell you know about the wine.
Tasty, excellent service. Wine more expensive but then you also get something.
Very tasty food and very friendly staff. Everything with air conditioning for a nice price.
You will always remember a stay in Merlet Very friendly reception Beautiful spacious room And the 5 course menu ..... I was more than impressed. Great food with great wines. Breakfast simple but well cared for .. Waiting staff .... nothing to complain about. In short, enough reasons to come back again.
Brilliant restaurant, which we enjoyed the utmost ! Sylvia & Erik Swinkels
In mid-June the holiday home I rented in Schoorl was occupied by others for a few days and I moved to this hotel for 3 nights in order not to have to drive back to the city. The hotel is located in a beautiful spot in the village, and in terms of parking and entrance everything is very pleasant. However, the reception at the reception was cool and the communication with the newly arrived guest was minimal, the very young and in my opinion insufficiently experienced and trained ladies radiated disinterest. The box with (ordered online) windbreaker was handed to me practically wordless later that day. This is a hotel of a class (and with prices) where you expect an appropriate reception on arrival. I had a beautiful - completely yellow - room with a beautiful view over a unique meadow. Nice bathroom, separate shower and separate toilet. Unfortunately it was very stuffy and at night I practically drove out the bed which I thought had a plastic duvet and mattress. Later it turned out that there is air conditioning, but it was well hidden. My children came for dinner with me in the Grand Café the first evening: what a radical difference with the hotel part: we have been received and served very friendly and professionally here and have had a delicious meal. Only praise to the wait staff here, where I enjoyed a perfectly made double espresso just before checkout on the last morning.
It is a pity that the restaurant used to be very good and is now using the Corona to do profit optimization. The price-quality ratio is unfortunately lost. If you don't reach the service level, fine, adjust your communication and your prices. We had dinner here with friends over a week ago.
Beautifully balanced menu and a surprising wine arrangement. Casual in a warm personal atmosphere by very friendly and spontaneous employees.
Valuation is price / quality. One night + dinner / wine + breakfast + packed lunch for two people cost 530 euros. The hotel is fine, nice room, spacious, separate toilet and separate bathroom. Nice view, a balcony with some evening sun. Service is okay, we were called before dinner if we wanted to fill in the breakfast order card "as we agreed". That is presumptuous and unnecessary. Dinner was missing amuses. Only first course was really interesting (wagyu tartare with oyster and smoked tea, along with interesting white wine). Rest perfectly executed, but not exciting. Service just really good. Breakfast has nothing special, many bnb's do this better. Only the scones are worth mentioning, very good. Packed lunch of 20 euros per person is seriously below par and not recommended. Good large baguette healthy, but it is completely soaked and soft after 2 hours. The brownie does my little sister better with a supermarket package. This one was dry and boring. No nuts, no chocolate chips, nothing. Certainly no chocolate, nuts and caramel sea salt pieces with hints of cayenne pepper, as a case of this fame gave me earlier. Place on the dunes is beautiful, you can immediately start walking / cycling. Many routes on the doorstep.
We were quite impressed with the quality of cooking at this 1 Michelin Star. Very very good and solid throughout. We went for lunch in January and was quiet and calm and the service was great. The decor I’m not a fan of... a bit tacky-modern dutch, however the space feels good overall as the terrace and views to the garden are beautiful and relaxing. Definitely worth a visit.
Amazing!
The Grand Café of Merlet has a luxurious appearance in which the old library feeling is combined with modern elements (such as the artworks and the bar). Even though the space is quite open, there is still an intimate atmosphere. The service is perfect: professional and at the same time very nice personal. (Suzanne) The food was absolutely delicious - lunch in this case. Our table had different dishes and everyone was full of praise. About the herring on toast, the carpaccio and the farmer's cheese / egg salad sandwich. Very tasty flavor combinations and beautifully served too. I love to come back here !!!
What a great restaurant here you will be surprised by flavor combinations! Beautiful dishes very refined food at a high level. It is clear that a top chef is happy to cook! The service is very hospitable and very friendly. Keep it up I'll be back for sure. Thanks
Nice decor and atmosphere. The staff was smiley and helpful. They waitress knew how to serve wine properly. We only went for a drink but apparently there is a Michelin star restaurant on the other side that is yet to be experienced.
As a wedding photographer very happy with this beautiful all-round wedding location! The ceremony can be held outside, within the reception, dinner and party. Very close to the Schoorl Dunes, the perfect photo shoot location for a wedding!
Dinner was 5 stars. Great wines, food and service.
Merlet's restaurant is definitely worth it. One big taste explosion and a pearl for the eye.
It is nice and clean, the service is well done, room is not pefrect, but for us is it enough. The breakfast is small but delicious, and also great service, thank you breakfastladies!
Exceptional. Both the Bistro and the main dinning room.
Both the hotel and the restaurant are exceptional and deserve their own 5 stars. The view of the rooms and the restaurant are so peaceful, one can forget anything else... The food is as expected very delicious, service was exceptional! The rooms seemed to have their own styling, we had a yellow ish interior which was very nice.
What a great treat! Food, entourage, service, explanation; if you want something special then you've come to the right place. All dishes are works of art. Delicious flavor combinations.
Excellent restaurant
Tasty and copious breakfast, avant-garde rooms, friendly staff
What can I say, this hotel and restaurant deserves more than 5 stars. Food in the michelin star was delicious. The breakfast superb and the who style and ambiance is great, everything is in the little details very well decorated. A big staff is present fulfilling every need and on top of that super friendly. A big fance wine list and if you don't want to eat in the Michelin star restaurant you can have very good food in the gran caffe. Enough parking space and close near all the nice things in Schoorl. We will definitely return. Hotel rooms are also very nice and very modern but cozy, tip not all the hotel rooms have an A/C.
The food was absolutely delicious. The dishes looked like works of art; especially the amazing "walk in the woods" desert. Thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience and relaxed atmosphere.
Top
Excellent service at an international level, which is rare in the netherlands. Quality facilities and decor, good food at the bistro (didn't try the Michelin restaurant).
